Great couple of days.

I swam yesterday and felt like I made some good progress in the pool. It was 1000 yards in 23:40. It felt pretty good.

Today Epic Training day. No swim but ate alot at lunch.....Took off early from work for a 58 mile bike ride at deer park. Finished it off in 2:58:30. It felt pretty good redeeming myself from the bonk on wednesday. We intended to Run a 4 mile brick but opted for a 2.05 mile brick. Good decision if you ask me. The 4 miles would have hurt. The 2.05 miles took 19:40 or so I can t remember. I felt pretty good with that after such a long ride. HR was up at about 158 pretty steady, I am not sure how muc more runing I could do. I really have to eat more on the bike if I am going to run any distance after a long ride like that. All in all I feel pretty good about it and I am getting quite excited about the tri next weekend......Long swim for a sprint, but I need to get better and doing more of it will help. Otherwise, good night and thanks for reading.

40 Mile Deer Park Ride/Supposed to be a Brick

So I skipped the swim today because I had big plans to brick it up today. I ate well all day in preparation for the workout and felt really good at first. I rode with some really fast guys, and was hoping to push it real hard to stay within a mile or 2 of them.....Well I drank a NOS caffeine drink about an hour before the ride something I have never done....Like I said I went out really hard the first 13 miles and felt pretty good. Then I slowly started running out of energy, but it went well until about mile 35. I crashed and hard. I have never bonked so hard in my experiences cycling. I guess it happens to everyone, but I was quite disappointed. Needless to say I did not make the run. So the NOS drink/caffeine drink will never be consumed prior to a long workout again, you live and learn, glad to find this out on a training day. Back in the water tomorrow and back on the bike again tomorrow I cannot back down. Stronger body, Stronger mind.....

Tri Run Through

So last Friday we did the Pineappleman Tri Runthrough. It was quite tough wind was coming out or the south west at about 20-25 mph. 2-3 foot rollers in the river it was awesome. .4mi swim in 13:46 the time to where T1 occurs was 15:00. Hopped on the bike pulling it out of my car and getting my shoes on in the parking lot (not ideal conditions) and rode the 15 mile bike in 43:20 to get off the bike at 59:15, I think. Then made a quick transition to the run chugging half a bottle of gatorade as I did not have my aero bar bottle and did not drink at all on the bike. Started running and ran pretty smoothly into the first 1.5 miles and got a little tired and walked a small amount and then ran it out. Well I made a wrong turn and and added an extra half mile to the run where I ended up getting really tired yaddie yaddie yaahhhh I made it back on the run in 41:20 for 3.8 miles. Total time for tri Run through was 1:41:xx. Not too shabby considering the conditions. My Desoto lift foil tri suit worked great, I stayed cool throughout the whole deal, I did not notice much on the swim because of the choppy conditions. Thats enough about that.

Recovered all weekend long and then Monday I managed to do a very nice 15 mile ride and a 2 mile brick. Actually it was 16.2mi in 58:20. Very slow due to conditions wind was ripping. We also had a new guy riding with us and we waited a bit for him. Then the new guy Devin and I went for a 2 mile run afterwards. The run felt really good made it in 18:00 flat. I felt pretty good about that since I really did not get the heart rate up too high and felt like I had more speed in me.

New update leg is hurting today from yesterdays run. It is the left leg same place as it was early last month. I am going to pay close attention to it and run at a reasonable pace and listen to my body. Oh by the way I am making an appointment with a GP/Sports MED Doctor sometime the end of the month. Hopefully we will get an X-Ray and a positive diagnosis of what the pain is. Anyway, I guess this is enough for now. Good night and Thanks to Jamesha and others for reading.

So the swimming has been the focal point for the last 2 weeks. Open water swimming, it is coming along but the chop and the wind has really made it difficult. I have got out on the bike and Started to run last sunday. 2 miles then just one on monday. Wednesday was a great day .4 mi swim at lunch then a 15.1 mile bike ride in 46:10 and a 3.2 mile run in 30:45. Awesome day. today is the first of what i hope to be many trial runs of the pineappleman sprint course. I am pretty excited and hope the weather holds out for us today. More to come after today's training.

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday

So I had to tak the bike out for a ride on Sunday to check the fit out. It is aggressive, and will take some adjusting. Although I feel like I can breath better and I am making more power. Long story short it was 13.56mi ride in 45:10. Oh I forgot to say I hit a squall line coming off the beach and got poured on with some serious cold rain and strong wind. Not too much fun.

Monday rest Day.

Tuesday Epic Swim day and a decent bike. Very choppy and semi cold water in the Indian River here in Melbourne. Total of .5 miles of poor form and tough swimming. It was pure strength to get through it. Thank goodness for all the laps I did in the pool to prepare me. We swam it in 19:34. I am pretty happy overall with the time, but on a flat day I will smoke it. After work I went for a nice little ride just 15 miles 49:15, it was uneventful, minus the fact that the wind was brutal. I am very happy with the fit of the bike today and those KEO pedals are awesome very limited movement and lots of power to the crank. No loss. I like it. Time for some rest.I hope to get about 8 hours tonight so I better get to bed. 500 comes quite early tomorrow. Good night.

Bike Fit and New Gear

List of new Gear:
Desoto Liftfoil Trisuit (one piece)
Shimano Tri shoes
Zoot 2.0 Ultra TT shoes
Keo Pedals and Cleats
Bell Bolt Helmet
Louis Garneau Transition Bag

Went to Plan B Cycling in Port Orange, FL Plan B Cycling. He tuned up my bike, trued up both wheels tightened up my head unit, and checked all the gears for good clean shifting. Then he put me on the trainer because I wanted to be re fit due to the hip pain and I wanted to get more aero for racing season. So once the bike fit was changed seat came up 3 cm and tilted fwd in the front a bit and the bars came down about 3 cm. I feel longer and and can breath more freely. Overall fit is better and more aero I like it alot. Oh and by the way the tune up and second bike fit was free and will be for the life of the bike, that is a great LBS. I am de I am getting pretty excited for race season. Things are going to be very interesting. First Race coming up on April 18.
